I had a funny exchange a few moments ago.
Checking email, some folks pitched me guest posting and sponsored post opportunities. One of these people tried to bargain with me for 4-5 email exchanges. Sometimes I listen. Sometimes I ignore. Other times, if I feel playful and a bit naughty, I do something fascinating, a neat way to shake off cheapie bloggers. Frees you from these folks and their badgering emails, if they do not get the hint and respect your word.
OK; I quoted prices for my advertising services last week. We have went back and forth on one of the services. I agreed to do a slightly lower than normal price. No worries. I can work with her. But she quoted a ridiculously low price for another ad service I offer. We talkin’ 100% or more less than my normal price. I told here no; not acceptable. But she keeps trying to get the price lower to 150% less than my normal price. Bizarre. Fear makes you do stupid stuff that ensures you never appear on the blog you intended to be featured on, when you reached out to the blogger.
Anyway, 2 emails ago, I doubled my price for the ad service when she went 100% lower. One part joking aka having fun, but one part to make her head explode LOL! And yes, one part to shake her off. Eventually, people terrified of spending money feel so scared of the bigger and bigger numbers you quote that they give up in terror and/or frustration, and stop emailing you. Or, accept your price. Most times, these folks cease emailing you because they cannot even fathom paying that price for your service. Good deal. Perhaps the cheapie finds a match for their budget but at least they cease bothering you.
Yesterday, after quoting her my normal price for the prior 3 emails, I quoted her double the normal price. She tried to go even lower. Today, I quoted triple the normal price. If she responds with a low price, I will respond with 4 times the normal price. Eventually, she quits emailing me. We both win. She finds blogs for proper placement. I find prospering matches. Sure I could ignore her emails and she vanishes but this is a keen study in psychology, bloggers need be aware of. Especially, money mindset. Someone so terrified to spend-lose $30 USD absolutely SPRINTS away from numbers like $300 or $400 USD. Numbers on a screen should never scare humans and bloggers with infinite potential. But most people fill their minds with fears regarding money. Being filled with money fears, failure is guaranteed. No blogger gets featured on a top blog ad-wise for $30, sponsored post speaking. Pay up to play up!
So, if you feel terrified to spend money you align only with unknown bloggers who run unread blogs. Nobody wants to advertise on these blogs because no one reads the blogs, or, the ads. But all the blogs that give massive exposure to your business cost bigger bucks for placement. What can you do? One thing; face money fears, feel money fears and increase your budget. Then pay the frick up to gain more exposure for your business, to position yourself to make more money.
I note the fascinating effect of people fearing bigger dollar amounts because this helps you get clear on both paying for sponsored posts and having posture to charge handsome sponsored post rates. Never fall like a house of cards to fools who demand $5 sponsored posts on your blog. Ignore these dolts, because if you agree to a low price, it is your fear that pulls you down into the cyber sewer. Be bold. Get clear. Have posture. Profit.
