Since fitness themed posts have as much to do with Blogging From Paradise as does selling Twinkies outside of a Weight Watcher’s convention I politely thanked the blogger for reaching out to me and explained how they should contact fitness bloggers to see much higher placement returns.

I have been pitched guest post ideas by bloggers who want to write about the rigors of working a 9-5 job. One quick look at Blogging From Paradise shows that I share how to retire from the 9-5, not how to remain in the 9-5 way of living.
Many new or struggling veteran bloggers never see their guest post pitches pay off because they do not select blogs 100% aligned with their niche. These non-matches always end in disappointment.
Guest Post Pitch Check List
- check to see if the guest post you are pitching aligns 100% with the blog niche
- build a relationship with bloggers by promoting them or featuring them on your blog or commenting on their blogs
- ask how you can help bloggers through your pitch email, independent of the fact if they do or do not accept your guest post
- personalize all emails
- thank bloggers for their time
- if you don’t hear back from a blogger feel free to follow up once
- stress the benefits of the guest post for the blogger’s audience
- read a recent post and reference the post topic and 1 section of the post specifically (this one really raises eyebrows and opens potential guest posting doors quickly)
- keep emails short and sweet
- write 1,000 words daily for practice to get clearer on your writing skills and to ask for the guest post opportunity with confidence and clarity
- if the blogger refuses your request or does not respond to the email do not take it personally
- have fun reaching out to bloggers!
Ideally, you don’t want to come in cold. Introduce yourself first by tweeting the blogger’s latest post and by commenting on their blog. Then you established a warm meet and greet when you ask for the guest post opportunity.
Consider tweeting and commenting on at least 1 to 4 posts before asking for the opportunity. Build a rapport. Help your fellow blogger. Spread love and that love will be reflected back to you in the form of guest post opportunities.

I shared pitch tips above but if you are really doing the creating and connecting thing from a loving, fun space you will be invited to publish guest posts on blogs before you reach out to other bloggers.
I have been featured on almost 300 blogs. I only reached out to 1 blogger – as an experiment – out of all these interviews, features and guest posts.

The Most Glaring Error in Pitching
Reaching out to any blogger whose blog is not fully aligned with your niche is the biggest time waster in this guest posting game. Don’t bother pitching anybody unless your guest post fits the blog niche like a glove.
Don’t bend on this rule because even if you land a guestie on a top blog that isn’t fully aligned with your niche you will see minimal returns on your guest post

Creating quality content is the best thing someone can ever do for their company. When done right, it generates a lot of traffic towards the website thus giving a high likelihood of converting the followers into leads. Unfortunately, quality content is expensive and can use up a lot of money, time, and very exhaustive.

1 – Choose your platform wisely
You do not just create a CGC in any area. The first thing is to ensure that you have a good number of active followers in online platforms. In addition to this, remember that each platform works differently; Facebook users are known for sharing content whereas Instagram is more of visuals. When you ask people for content, remember to be specific with what you want since a lot of us are ready to talk about anything we wish.
2 – Collect independent customer reviews
Customers’ reviews are very vital to any business as they act as personal recommendations to other people who are yet to try your brand. In fact, a lot of people prefer to read a number of reviews before making a conclusion on whether to buy or not. If someone comes across two or more negative comments, a good number will pull away from your page. Remember that savvy customers will always spot fake reviews hence the more reason to stick to authentic customers. The only way to win their hearts is by offering what you promised in the first place.
3 – Offer rewards
There is nothing as encouraging as being rewarded for doing something. Offering rewards attracts a lot of people towards your page as everyone is eager to get something. Don’t try too hard by getting expensive gifts. You can promise that a winner will have their tweets retweeted or you feature their article or business on your page. Not only will they feel happy that they are part of your success but will also attract new users to subscribe.

Online platforms can either break or boost your business. This is because a lot of people have turned to recommendation on social media by strangers or friends. If you want better reviews, ensure that your products are quality and services are up to standard.
User Generation Content is the Way to Go!
With more than a billion active websites and blogs on the internet today, content overload is happening daily. The same is true for brands and bloggers that are struggling to create original content on their own.
The better option is to build a platform or content creation and marketing plan that relies on content being created from other users. After all, how much content has Facebook or Instagram ever made… and look at how huge and massive their brands are!
