Alison McNeil contacted me today to let me know about the public release of a new blog directory called Alison sent me a press release (see here) however she was also kind enough to provide a less newsy summary of this new blog directory. Blog Directory – Their Summary
* Please remember this summary was provided by and not is a blog discovery and exploration tool supported by a network that connects bloggers with readers (without having to first register). It’s different than existing blog directories such as Bloglines, MyBlogLog, and Technorati as it is powered by readers, similar to the way Yelp is powered by patrons, and also employs a full-time editorial staff to maintain the integrity of the directory.

The company is self-funded by the partners, Kenneth Yeh and Gladys Kong, who most recently worked together at Kenneth also ran a previous startup called Designer Apparel which he sold in Nov. 2008 for an undisclosed amount to a group of private investors.

I signed up for earlier and spent a while browsing through the directory. It seems to be very organised and should prove to be a useful resource.

They have been adding blogs to the directory for some time (they mention 200,000+ so far) so there’s a good chance that your blog is already listed however if you find that your blog is not listed yet you can add it yourself here.

I did a search for and found the listing right away. 🙂

The blog listing pages are pretty good. Each blog is categorized and tagged and a list of related blogs is listed too. You also have the option of rating and reviewing the blog as well and an excerpt of your blog’s last 3 posts is displayed to give users a preview of your blog.

One thing I noticed about the listings and liked from an administrators point of view is how they generate the url of your listing. Each blog listing’s page url is generated using the title tag of the blog. So since BloggingTips home page title is ‘Blogging Tips – Blogging Guides, News, Tips, Resources’ our full url is ‘‘.

Your blog profile at might make you forget you are viewing a directory. The whole setup feels more like a social networking control panel with links to your favourite blogs, reviews, latest comments. mailbox and more. Public Beta Goes Live
