If you’re a fan of virtual business cards, you’ll love IdentyMe. It’s a place where you can create an online business card showcasing your portfolio, resume, social networks and contact information. They offer a wide variety of stylish themes that you can use for your vCard. Plus, you’ll be able to manage your contacts (other users that you add) all from a single location.

IdentyMe dashboard. This is where you’ll access and customize all of your information like your profile, portfolio, resume, contacts, address book and more. For starters, it’s really important to add your title here and also upload an image. Under your profile you can add general information about yourself like a bio, birthday, address, hobbies, website url, contact email, etc. If you’re worried about privacy, you can change who can and can’t see your personal information from within the settings. For instance, you may want to choose “contacts only” or “only me” for your sensitive information.

This area supports images only. So anything that you want to show off, you’ll need a screenshot or image of. You can even create albums to categorize your images. I must admit that the back-end is pretty bland and doesn’t offer much functionality.

Social Profiles

Add your social profiles to IdentyMe.While IdentyMe does offer a large selection of social networks to choose from, it can be kind of a pain finding them in the long drop down menu. Once you have them added though, you can drag and drop to rearrange them. Luckily, if you use the same username for all of your social profile then you won’t have to retype it because it remains in the textbox. Also keep in mind that with a free account you can only add up to 10 social profiles.

You can either fill out the resume area manually or upload a document in .doc or .pdf format. If you’re in the market for a job, this is a great way to get your resume out there and hopefully hear back from potential employers.

IdentyMe free themes. With a free account you can choose 1 of 10 ready made themes for your vCard. They do have an HTML editor that you can use, but you’ll need to upgrade your account. All of the ready made themes are actually pretty impressive, so you’re bound to find at least one that you like.

I personally love the iPad theme. You even have to “slide to unlock” to see your information (just like the actual device) and the home button works just like the actual device as well.

Besides the usual options you’d expect here, you can also use your own domain or sub-domain for your vCard. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer much guidance as to how to set this up. You can also add your Google Analytics information so you can view traffic and statistics for your vCard. Just like you can set the privacy for your contact information (mentioned above), you can also set it for your entire vCard, social profiles, portfolio, resume and contacts.

Final Result

While the back-end needs some work as well as the help section (a lot of “coming soon” and sections), I really love the final result. It’s an online business card that you can be proud of. IdentyMe even has an integrated contact form so that you don’t have to give your email address out to the world. Just be sure to set aside 10-15 minutes to thoroughly fill out your information and once you do, it’s even more important to keep it up to date!
