Google is the Almighty in the Search Engine world. Chances are you’ve already started ranking and are seeing some results, but how can you rank pages and blog posts better in Google? How can you vie for those coveted top ten spots displayed on the first page of a user’s search results? Google SEO Rank is important if you want to keep growing traffic from google.

Google SEO Rank-Start With Keyword Density

Keywords have always been the bread and butter of search engine optimization. Although recent updates to Google’s search algorithms have made them less of a major focus, they are still important. Keeping a high Google SEO Rank is very important to keep the traffic incoming every day.

Keyword density is a measurement pertaining to how many times a specific keyword is used for every 100 words on a webpage. If you were to use a keyword twice in every 100 words, you would have a keyword density of 2 percent.

Density can be tricky nowadays because many plugins green light pages with a 1.5 to 2.5 percent keyword density. In reality, you should be shooting for 1 percent or less and using synonymous keywords throughout instead of stuffing the same one over and over.

Nailing Word Counts

Google and the end user love words. The longer your content, the better. However, you should nail the word count best suited for your specific content. If a topic can be thoroughly covered in 350 words, that’s fine. If it needs 500 to 1,000, going long isn’t bad. In fact, 2,000+ word content performs best.

Incorporating Internal Links

Avoid a heavy, spammy keyword density by incorporating internal links. They are anchored in specific words that present a keyword or phrase about the linked content. By linking these anchors to other pages within your website, you are effectively teaching the search engine what the page and other pages of your website are about.

Using H Tags

H tags, or header tags, increase and decrease the font size of specified text on your page. These are especially useful in blog posts and landing pages. You can use an assortment of H tags including H1, H2, H3, H4, and H5. Some blogging platforms even have an H6. Your goal should be to utilize the first three H tags:

  • H1: The title of your post or page. You’ll want to include the main keyword phrase here.
  • H2: The first heading within your post or page. You can incorporate a keyword or phrase, but be careful not to stuff or spam it.
  • H3: These headings fall as sub-points within your headings. You can add additional information broken down into H4 and H5 headings, but this may not always be necessary.

Image Names Matter

Naming your images is one of the most overlooked means of ranking better with Google. Instead of using a generic, nonsense file name, opt for a descriptive name relevant to the content. Avoid stuffing the name and alt tag with keywords, but don’t be afraid to use one either. Most platforms offer the option to title an image, but whether this attribute contributes to search engine ranking is debatable.

Google is beginning to care less and less about spammy, outdated keyword techniques. However, keyword usage is still very much alive. Your goal should be to adapt to the changes in Google’s algorithms so that your content has a higher chance of gaining better rank.
