No blogger gets connected. This is not a passive act. No one introduces you to powerful, influential bloggers. No one opens doors for you. You need to work your tail off for years to earn the right to grab the attention span of powerful bloggers. Bloggers live in fantasy land sometimes. I just read a question on Quora. Some blogger claimed to write well. In the next breath, the blogger asked Quora users to introduce them to clients. Please think through this question. If you wrote genuinely well and paid your blogging dues, clients beat a path down to your cyber door. If you write poorly and do not pay your blogging dues, you find yourself asking strangers on Quora to please introduce you to clients.
I do not intend to poke fun here. Seriously guys; I tell the truth because I want you to succeed. No blogger gets connected. Bloggers network generously to increase their blogger buddy community. Help bloggers generously. Ask for nothing in return. Gradually, friendships form. Some blogging buddies become clients. Even more blogging buddies promote your services to their readers, growing your client service base. How did you get connected? You CONNECTED yourself to powerful bloggers by generously helping powerful bloggers and expecting nothing in return. Give freely. Receive easily. Being generous in dealings with fellow bloggers connects you with an army of loyal, supportive blogging buddies. In essence, getting connected is simple but highly uncomfortable for most bloggers. Bloggers usually want to squeeze money or traffic through every interaction with human beings. Networking with power brokers does NOT work that way. Pay your dues. Gain trust. Make friends. Move higher in blogging circles. Get connected.
Simple in practice but this process is not necessarily easy. Paying your dues feels unpleasant because your needs take a back seat to serving influencers. But the returns? Sweet benefits, folks. I listened to a power broker blogger explain how he befriended powerful people at media houses like Forbes and Entrepreneur. He discovered influencers who handled syndication at each house. After taking them out to eat, gifting them and building bonds, he eventually inspired these folks to syndicate his blog. Now his latest blog posts get featured in front of those audiences, gaining exposure in front of millions. Why? He got connected by generously building relationships with powerful people. Patiently and persistently, he paid his dues. He is a 7 figure blogger now because he put in the time, got connected and built genuine bonds with powerful people.
Anybody can do it. Never make excuses. I wrote a networking eBook for you. Buy it. Read it. Take notes. I got featured on Forbes, Fox News, Entrepreneur and Virgin by following these simple tips diligently. Even when things felt uncomfortable I simply saw the process through. This is how it works. This is how to succeed. Put in the time, help powerful people, be generous, expect nothing and the bonds you form take you places you could never reach on your own.
