Many of us are focusing our efforts on creating authority sites within the “wordpress” and “blogging” niche. While it’s an excellent topic and niche to be in, it’s also quite saturated.
At the end of the day, to build a successful site in this market you need to have quality content that other bloggers can relate with, find value in and share with others.
This is exactly what Devesh has been able to do with his blog at WPKube.com, which currently ranks among the top 50,000 sites on Alexa. The site is full of great resources and articles about how to improve your blogging experience.
1.) Please tell us about yourself and how you got into blogging?
My name is Devesh Sharma and I run a farily popular WordPress blog called WordPress Kube. I got into blogging at the age of 15; I loved the idea of working from home and living the Internet lifestyle.
My first blog was Technshare, which I later sold for 4-figures.
2.) What is the focus of your blog and why did you choose that niche?
The main focus of my blog is helping beginner and advance WordPress users. WP Kube is a blog on all things related to WordPress with the focus on Themes, Plugins, Tutorials and Modifications. I also write about the latest WordPress news and discuss ongoing WordPress related topics.
I started blogging in 2009 with Technshare and WordPress was a subject that I frequently blogged about on the site, so it was a natural progression to launch a site dedicated to WordPress.
3.) How are you currently monetizing your blog traffic?
I tired AdSense when I first started WPKube but it didn’t work out well. I am currently using affiliate marketing & paid ads (BSA) to monetize the traffic. I also make a decent amount with Freelancing.
4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started blogging?
- The importance of building relationship with other bloggers.
- Blogging isn’t just about making money or generating traffic.
- Running too many blogs isn’t an easy process; one should always focus on one project at a time.
5.) What are three blogs that you visit almost daily?
6.) Can you give us three recommended tools/services that you use with your blogging?
- GeeTeeDee for managing daily ToDo tasks
- Genesis Theme
- GetResponse for list building
7.) What advice would you have for someone who is just starting with their first blog?
I see people get excited about blogging and do everything they could to make money, but what they don’t understand is that it takes a lot of hard work and patience.
If you are looking to blog just to make money then you probably shouldn’t. It’s a slow process and takes a lot of time.
8.) What’s the best advice or tip you’ve discovered about blogging since getting started?
If you want to create a successful site, than always focus & put all your efforts in one project at a time.
9.) If you only had $100 to start a new blog, how would you use it?
10.) How can readers of the blog get in touch with you?
Thanks again Devesh for taking the time to share your advice and story with the Blogging Tips community. If you would like to learn about other bloggers and how they are finding success online, be sure to read through our blogger interview series.
