Ivan Ong is an extremely successful blogger and affiliate marketer who has made it his profession to not only make money on the internet, but also teach others how to do the same.

Through his blog, Ivan has been able to connect with people all over the world who are interested in making money through affiliate marketing and offer them the opportunity to attend his teaching classes in Singapore.

Ivan has been using his blog as a way to connect with people around the world that would like to learn more about making money online, while also showcasing the results from students within his affiliate training program.

1.) Please tell us about yourself and how you got into blogging?

My name is Ivan Ong and I’m from sunny Singapore, a very small but highly developed country in South East Asia.

I started blogging when i first chanced into Internet marketing back in 2006 and my blog was the first website that i created after attending a newbie course for Internet marketing.

Back then, i did not know what was the objective of the blog so i started putting in affiliate banners and started blogging about my life. Its almost like a joke to me now whenever I scroll back to my earliest post to read what I was writing.

But through all these post, I could actually see my own growth through the years of being in this online business. My blog started out from being nothing with no objective to become a full blown blog with over 100,000 page views every month and inspiring people that the Internet lifestyle is not a myth but it’s actually possible because I’m living it myself!

2.) What is the focus of your blog and why did you choose that niche?

The focus of my blog now is basically to provide content and value in the area of paid traffic to CPA affiliate marketing. I chose this niche because I became very good at driving traffic using paid traffic and monetizing it with CPA offers.

So i started to blog more about what i know and provide very valuable and good content on my blog. It’s all sharing strategies that worked for me and not some by fly ‘theory’ that i have not tested it before.

3.) How are you currently monetizing your blog traffic?

I’m currently placing affiliate banners and text links to promote affiliate products, but these are products that i have used myself and recommend.

I don’t like Google Adsense, but do think that Adsense alternatives are a good option for bloggers looking to make more money with their audience.

I am also providing coaching program to train people in the area of paid traffic to CPA offers and I use my blog to collect leads to follow up using phone and email.

4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started blogging?

I wish i had known to be collecting leads/prospect mobile number right from the beginning. My sales conversion actually boost up by more than 1000% because i started collect mobile numbers and actually having my sales team to call them on their mobile and talk to them.

This makes it very real to the prospect and after a few following up calls, most of them would actually sign up and purchase my training program at a high ticket price.

5.) What are three blogs that you visit almost daily?

Definitely Bloggingtips.com! And 2 other that I visit regularly are Backlinko.com by Brian Dean and NichePursuits.com by Spencer Haws.

6.) Can you give us three recommended tools/services that you use with your blogging? (search tools, keywords, content, social)

I use SEO Processor, Google sitemap. But actually i outsourced 100% of my SEO work to an external company that take care of optimizing my blog for me. All i do is to write content!

7.) What advice would you have for someone who is just starting with their first blog?

Have a very clear focus of the niches that you want to go into and focus on it until you have attain a crowd of loyal readership.

8.) What’s the best advice or tip you’ve discovered about blogging since getting started?

Content is king and write all content yourself. I know many people actually outsource their content which makes the content quality inconsistent.

I make it a point to write all the content myself because it my style of writing that my readers want to read and like to read. The moment you outsource your content to another writer, your readers will immediately know it doesn’t come from you.

9.) If you only had $100 to start a new blog, how would you use it?

Get a hosting server, get a domain and customized a theme that suits your style. Making your blog unique is also a very big part of differentiating yourself  and standing out from all the other blogs out there.
