No matter where you are located in the world or what language you speak, there is blogging outlet for you. WordPress and blogging has taken the world by storm and the bloggers of yesteryear are helping the bloggers of tomorrow. Venchito Tampon is a blogger from the Philippines who has been building out his own WordPress and blogging site, while inspiring others along the way. This makes Venchito a perfect candidate for this week’s edition of Meet the Bloggers.
1.) Please tell us about yourself and how you got into blogging?
I’ve been a freelance writer since 2011, working for a few clients based in UK, US and Australia. Curiosity just took place after writing multiple SEO articles for those clients. That led to me learning more about SEO – how it works and why it is a very important source of traffic to a certain website or blog.
In early 2013, I started my link building blog, DigitalPhilippines.net (subscribe to my blog). In the first few months after launch, I published topics related to general marketing and branding, then I decided to focus on content marketing and link building after ten months of existence.
2.) What is the focus of your blog and why did you choose that niche?
My focus of my blog is blogging, content marketing and link building. I decided to choose those very specific topics because I’ve found out that they were the common pains of SEOs and internet marketers (in general) nowadays.
Bloggers don’t know how to build links and SEOs don’t know how to create content and write blog posts, so focusing my efforts both on these two topics can help me tap into a wider group of readers
3.) How are you currently monetizing your blog traffic?
I recently promoted some products for my affiliate program in this list or resource of SEO tools page. Hopefully I can get some good commissions from the tools and products I’m promoting.
4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started blogging?
Relationship building is extremely important in blogging.
Every blogger especially those who’re starting out in the industry should start investing in relationship building efforts with like-minded people who can help them achieve their desired results for their website or brand.
There are so many things relationship building can provide to a certain website or business. A few of them are:
- Helps in amplifying the site’s internal and external content (e.g. regular contributed articles) to audiences that are secondarily targeted by the blogger.
- Establishes a solid brand community where you can easily get some feedback about your content, website, your business and your offerings as well (products or services).
- Reveals new ideas or topics you haven’t brought up on your blog (e.g. conversations with an experienced influencer or blogger could open some fresh ideas for content creation).
- Helps in building your brand as a blogger since some of your connected influencers might mention your tool/content/site from their own blog posts.

7.) What advice would you have for someone who is just starting with their first blog?
Promote your content to build relationships not only to build links to your blog.
Profitable backlinks will only be the end product of your relationship building efforts.
Become the first few persons to comment on fresh new blog posts on some of the authoritative blogs in your niche. Make them remember you through your answers to questions, discussions and forums you’re engaging with. Always leave actionable tips in all of your answers to get people to follow your social profiles and your blog/brand as well given that people always want to learn from someone who’re really good at something (one who understands the “how” of a certain thing).
8.) What’s the best advice or tip you’ve discovered about blogging since getting started?
Creating content without the effort and time to promote it is a huge mess.
Every time you publish a post (even if you don’t do it daily), you should take at least 15-30 minutes of your time to promote it.
Here are some tips for content promotion:
- Do a Google search for the target keyword of your blog post. Reach out to all the bloggers or webmasters of the pages listed in the search results.
- Perform an outreach campaign to people or authorities you’ve mentioned in your post (just simply share your post to them, 90% of them will share it because of the law of reciprocity).

9.) If you only had $100 to start a new blog, how would you use it?
Use the first $30 for the hosting and domain (year) and $70 to create well-designed landing pages.
Then just write blog posts consistently to achieve your goals (affiliate commissions, leads, adsense, etc..). Invest your first few profits to build a solid website and add some designs to it.
