Definition of:

Consultant

A consultant is a professional who provides expert advice in a particular area such as business, education, law, regulatory compliance, human resources, marketing, finance, health care, engineering, science, security (including electronic or physical), or any of many other specialized fields.

Consultants are usually hired on a temporary basis to address specific issues, improve systems, or manage projects within their area of expertise. They often bring specialized knowledge and skills to a task that organizations may not possess internally.

The role of a consultant can vary significantly depending on the industry and the specific needs of the client. This might include analyzing business practices, recommending improvements, assisting with change implementation, training employees, or even temporarily taking on roles to lead particular initiatives.

Consultants might work independently, as part of a consulting firm, or as freelance experts. They typically work on a project-by-project basis and may juggle multiple clients simultaneously.

Their primary goal is to provide value through expert advice that helps clients achieve their objectives more effectively and efficiently.
