I just visited a website.
Said entrepreneur presented me with a Linktree website. For some odd reason, many Instagram users – not bloggers, but Instagram users because they do not own a self-hosted, WordPress blog – use Linktree sites for business.
Massive mistake. I had no idea:
- what the individual knew
- who the individual was
- where I could test drive the premium products and services, via their free content
I closed the site 2 seconds after clicking the link. I only clicked the link because I wished to see what this free site looks like.
Guys; you will never move significantly higher in blogging circles unless you buy your domain and hosting, because the very bloggers who move you higher in circles:
- will not trust you
- will not link to your blog
- will not bond with you
If you cannot invest $3 per month in a blog, you are not a blogger. You use social media. You use a free blog platform. Or you use a free platform as a link farm, for your business links. Good luck with that.
But to reach even higher in the blog-o-sphere, you also need to have written and self-published an eBook. Self-hosted blogs rock. But the next level, blogging big dawg type of circles demand you REALLY know your stuff, by writing and self-publishing a 6,000 to 10,000 word or longer eBook on your blogging niche.
Look at this:
I wrote this eBook and self-published it on Selz.
Then I uploaded a paperback version for sale.
I promote the eBook via nearly all videos and blog posts I publish. Plus I link to the eBook every time I publish a guest post, via my bio box. Showing that I fill a 60 plus page eBook with blogging knowledge proves I know my stuff. Giving away free knowledge on my blog helped me move higher in blogging circles. I gained the trust of top bloggers by owning my site; we all own our own sites. But I reached even higher in blogging circles by filling an entire eBook with blogging knowledge, waving the paperback around like a mad man via all of my videos.
People do not go on blog tours. Not yet, at least. People go on book tours. A book tour is no eBook tour but the split second you self-publish an eBook on Selz or Amazon, readers need to take notice. Folks see you in a different light, perceiving you to be more of a pro. As the perception changes, you slowly and steadily rocket higher in your blogging niche.
I kinda knew my stuff through blogging. I really know my stuff because I self-published an entire eBook on blogging. Plus I have the confidence and clarity to charge money for the eBook, as Jan Verhoeff does for her reads.
